Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups unsalted butter [284 g]
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour [313 g]
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 recipe caramel
  • 4 oz dark chocolate, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 F and line a 9x13-inch pan with parchment on all sides.
  2. In a food processor, combine flour, sugar, salt, and butter. Pulse until just combined and the mixture forms a dough ball.
  3. Press dough evenly into the prepared pan.
  4. Bake for 30 minutes, or until just light golden brown. Cool completely.
  5. Make caramel according to directions and let it come to room temperature.
  6. Drizzle cooled shortbread with caramel and melted chocolate. Freeze briefly or refrigerate for about 30 minutes to set.
  7. Cut into rectangles with a large sharp knife.
